The Indian “Memento”

30 07 2009

So in my latest obsession with famed Indian actor, Aamir Khan, I have taken to doing a little research on his upcoming and past movie projects. I came across a fantastic blog devoted to all things about Aamir Khan, aamirkhanblog.wordpress.com.

While reading through the many pages of this blog, I came to a most exciting discovery about my new “main squeeze.”  According to this page on the site, “In his last movie “Ghajini”, he did the role of a shirtless man…” Are you kidding me? A movie with Aamir Khan going shirtless? Of course I had to look into this. (No matter that he’s kind of too old for me and out of my league, being 44 years old and married.)

So I looked up the movie, Ghajini on imdb.com. Ghajini was made in 2008 (fairly recent!).  The plot, looks a lot like the great thriller-drama, Memento which was made back in 2000. According to imdb.com, in Ghajini,

“Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan) is a rich tycoon suffering from short term memory loss due to being hit by a metal pole when trying to intervene on his girlfriend’s murder …”

Is that not like the Bollywood version of Memento’s plot (according to IMDB)?…

“Memento chronicles Leonard, an ex-insurance investigator who can no longer build new memories, as he attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers.”

Anyways, this Bollywood version looks like a pretty good flick and with Aamir Khan all shirtless and packed with muscles, it looks hard to resist!

Yup. Looks like basically the same movie, to me! And with how much I enjoyed the movie, Memento, I’m sure Ghajini will be at least as good.
