…it’s not everybody’s cup of tea.
Sure, weddings are supposed to be fun. They’re supposed to be a celebration! It’s an event for people to be happy, with dancing, music, cake, and a general attitude of joy. Most people love to get invited to such cheerful occasions. Love is in the air, and everyone has a good time. What is there not to like?
This popular song for wedding receptions is a hint:
Well, if you’re looking at it from a more pessimistic angle and you’re single, a wedding might not be your ideal way to spend your time. One reason I don’t care for that song is the same reason weddings might not be on the top of the list of fun ways to spend your time: it’s a reminder to being single. Sure, Beyonce is trying her darndest to show all the ladies out there, that being single is fun. But take it from me, it’s not all that it’s chalked up to be.
Weddings emphasize the unity of two people. A couple. Something that I don’t have. So naturally, the Single Lady in me feels left out and honestly, kind of bummed. Of course I’m excited for the two people being wed, honestly, I am, but it’s not really something I can relate to. Plus, all the mushy feelings of love in the air, just get all the existing couples in attendance to feel even more in love. It’s kind of like all the single folk are being pointed out and stared at for being different… or worse: being ignored.
So you know those few you might see inevitably getting too drunk with no regard for the happy-go-lucky celebrations?
Maybe, you should just let those people imbibe, and just have their own good time. We’re all supposed to be having a good time, right? Just leave the memorable part to those happy enough with being in love…
