Goodbye Melvin

2 02 2010

One of my favorite current baseball players, Melvin Mora, the third basemen for the Baltimore Orioles, is being traded. While I can’t name any of his baseball stats or history, he has been my standby favorite player on the O’s for a while. Maybe that’s because he’s been with the team for so long. Mora joined the team when I was in high school, back in 2001. Another reason (albeit a silly one) why I like Melvin Mora so much if for his memorable and unique name.

According to the Express paper, “Melvin Mora has agreed to a $1.3 million, one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies.” Apparently “Mora’s primary goal as a 38-year-old free agent was to sign with a playoff contender.” Mora has spent the last nine season with the Orioles.

I wish Melvin all the best with the far away team, and maybe we’ll be seeing him in the playoffs!
