Boudreau in Disney

29 12 2009

Did you know that the Capitals’ coach, Bruce Boudreau is in a Disney movie?

Well, it’s not exactly him, but in the song, “Gonna Take You Down” from Disney’s latest, “The Princess and the Frog”, is a lyric and character very similar to Coach Bruce Boudreau.

Listen to this song, specifically at 1:00…

The singer, Ray, names his family members including a “cousin Boudreau.” I’m not sure how this extremely minor character’s name is supposed to be spelled (I also saw it spelled, “Budro”) but since the characters in this song are Cajun, and Cajun is part French, there’s a possibility that it’s the same French that is of French Canada, where the name Boudreau is from.

The firefly, “Cousin Boudreau” even shows a resemblance to Bruce Boudreau:

So either this is a major coincidence, or Disney has realized that the Washington Capitals really are a great franchise with a fun team. It sure isn’t like the Disney Studios’ closest hockey team, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, can play very well. Currently, the are in 25th place out of 30 teams and at the bottom of their division.

This seeming partnership between the Disney corporation and the Washington Capitals is just one more reason for me to love Disney (and the Caps)!
