For The Ladies

P. 69  8/26/09

I got a few work emails today that said:

Today, August 26, marks 89 years since the certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution’s ratification. This amendment granted women the right to vote and marks a major milestone in women’s equality. As we remember those women that were instrumental in this outcome, we should also reflect on women today and their strengths and accomplishments.”

“In 1971, August 26 was designated as “Women’s Equality Day” to commemorate the peaceful civil rights movement by women for an equal voice in our democratic society.  Annually on this day, we are reminded of women’s continuing efforts for complete equality.

Over the last Century, women have made progress through challenges and rewards that are evident in their journey. Women are making invaluable contributions as they serve in all professions.  We proudly celebrate the President’s appointments of women to Cabinet and other key executive positions.  …Women serve in important positions as accomplished leaders and professionals.  These women are dedicated to meeting the challenges facing America and are essential to the continued growth and success of the transportation industry.

On August 26, as we celebrate the spirit, leadership, and hard work of the pioneering women, you are encouraged to reflect on women’s strengths, accomplishments, and affirm your commitment to unite in the continued fight for equality for all.”

Basically what this all says is that we should do something special for all the ladies of the world. So I present you this:
