Imagining You Naked

26 03 2009

One of my friends is nervous about getting intimate with another person because they are uneasy with the way their body looks. Granted, most often the lights just go out and there is nothing to worry about. But the lights don’t usually go off immediately, and still my friend is uncomfortable and bashful. So they sought out the advice from another friend about what to do.

The advice given was that for the most part, people can pretty much tell what you look like naked, under your clothes. For example you can tell if someone is on the heavy side. You can tell if someone has big boobs. You can sometimes tell if someone has man boobs, or a beer gut, or a flat chest, or a big butt. You can pretty much tell what people look like naked. True, clothes cover up our bodies, but most of the time, you can still see people’s shapes. While you may not be able to tell if someone is hairy, if they have a six-pack or how “endowed” men are down below, you can basically figure out everything else.

I’ve been thinking about this. If you assume that this advice is true, then it’s kind of creepy to know that people can get a pretty good idea of what you look like naked. However, then again it’s not too out of the ordinary, since we are after all, all humans. Most of us have the same body parts in the same places. The human form is pretty familiar to us all. If you think about it that way, there really isn’t anything to be shy about.
